Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund

Single Parent Scholarships are given to low-income single parents who are pursuing post-secondary education in preparation for skilled employment.

We organize affiliated scholarship funds that serve every county of Arkansas. To apply for a scholarship or to get involved, contact the affiliate SPSF serving the county you live in.

Arizona BPW Foundation Scholarship

The Arizona Business and Professional Women's Foundation promotes the advancement of Arizona's working women through scholarships, research, and education.

Scholarships are awarded to women 25 years or older (by March 1) who are returning to school to acquire better job opportunities or advance their current careers. Yes, you must be returning to school in Arizona. 

Helping Hands for Single Moms

Must be a Single Mom. The organization can provide $270 per month as a stipend that can be used in anyway the awardee chooses. Have US Citizenship and reside in Maricopa County/the Phoenix-Metro Valley (Arizona).

College of Dupage Foundation Single Parent Scholarship

To support single parents in need of financial assistance to attend College of DuPage. You have to be a resident of District 502, maintain cumulative 2.0 GPA, maintain at least part-time status (6 credits per semester) and be a single parent with dependent child/children.

Cathy G. Sultan Scholarship

Must be a returning female student needing significant financial assistance. Applicant must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. Preference will be given to a single parent with custodial responsibility and dependent children.

Applicant must have demonstrated potential for success in academics and career and be currently enrolled at UWEC. Notification of the award determination will be sent to award recipient only by the approximate award date noted in the scholarship.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison

This program awards scholarships to single parents. Applicants must be UM-Madison students in good academic standing. Must also provide evidence of financial need, as well as indicators suggesting your future academic success.

Green River Community College

In 2014-2015, 285 scholarships were offered to students at Green River College.

This college has a need based category with some of the scholarships exclusively reserved for single parents

Hero's Fund for Single Parents

You must be approved for admission and enrolled in UW-Eau Claire student, in good academic standing with the potential for academic and career success, a single parent with custody of kids, and have a financial need not met by traditional forms of financial assistance.

Preference is given to female returning students. All scholarship applicants must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. Notifications of the award determinations will be sent to award recipients only by the approximate award dates noted in the scholarships.

Scholarship applicants must currently be a resident of the state of Georgia. Proof of residency is required.

must also be accepted into a program of study at an educational institution in the state of Georgia, as evidenced by a proof of acceptance (either an acceptance letter OR a current school transcript).

McEnany Scholarship for Single Parents

Applicant must be a single parent attempting to obtain a degree at UW-Eau Claire who needs financial assistance and has potential for success in academics

and career. Have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. Notifications of the award determinations will be sent to award recipients only by the approximate award dates noted in the scholarships.

Capture the Dream

This scholarship is for low-income single parents who are Bay Area residents and who will be enrolled at an accredited, not-for-profit 2 or 4-year institution in the fall are eligible to apply.

Jeanette Rankin Foundation Scholarship

The Jeannette Rankin(JRF) scholarships are given to low-income women 35 and older. The goal of these scholarships are to break the cycle of poverty by giving women an education that will benefit herself, her family and her community.

Talbot Scholarship Foundation

The Talbot Scholorship Foundation offers money to women who have been out of school for at least 10 years. The awards can range from $1,000 to $10,000. You have to be at least 27 years old to qualify.

It's not specifically for mothers returning to school it's able to help many because of the financial need many single mothers are in.

Since the scholarship was founded in 1997 it has distributed over $1.6 million in scholarships. The Talbott Foundation empowers mothers to go back to school by providing financial assistance.

P.E.O. Star Scholarship

A woman is eligible to be recommended for the P.E.O. STAR Scholarship provided she:

  • Exhibits excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success
  • Is in the final academic year (senior year) of her secondary education and  is 20 years of age or under at the end of the calendar year
  • Has a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Is a citizen or legal permanent residence of the United States or Canada
  • Plans to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the United States or Canada, full-time or part-time, in the fall of the academic year following high school graduation
  • Is recommended by and receives the vote of a local P.E.O. chapter

Google Anita Memorial Scholarship-USA

Google Anita Borg Scholarship recipients will each receive a $10,000 award for the 2013-2014 academic year.

A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's academic background and demonstrated leadership.

All scholarship recipients will be invited to attend the Annual Google Scholars' Retreat in Mountain View, California in 2013.

Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP)

This scholarship was founded in 1999 and meant to help women overcome physical violence through making post secondary education accessible.

To be eligible for this program you must have suffered domestic violence, been separated from their abuser for a minimum of 1 year, demonstrate a critical need for assistance.

You don't have to be a mother to get this one, but you're eligible and your dependents will be considered as part of your financial need assessment.

SWE scholarships/Society of Women Engineers Scholarship 

For women pursuing ABET-accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science in the United States and Mexico.

In 2012, SWE disbursed 198 new and renewed scholarships valued at $577,000. Applicants complete one application and are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. See eligibility requirements, below, under "Of Interest."

AAUW 

Single mothers seeking to change careers and add to their educational portfolio or who have been displaced from college, can seek eligibility under one of the many grants awarded to women with financial need likewise, sponsors a variety of sizeable grants to women, including the Young Women in Public Affairs Award program.

Ken and Mary Smith Single Parent Scholarship

For single parent students, freshman through senior, with financial need. A minimum 2.0 GPA is needed for freshmen coming out of high school. 

In the case of renewal for a previous recipient, an acceptable academic performance during the previous scholarship year(s) as determined by the scholarship selection committee is required. It can be renewed four times by the same student, for a maximum of five total years.

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation

All applicants must be United States Citizens and be younger than 25 years old. They may have a Grade Point Average of 2.0 or better. They can be a high school senior, have a GED diploma, be an undergraduate college student, or be enrolled as a vocational or trade school student.

Curiel and Runion Scholarship

Must be a single mother. To apply, write a 500+ word essay on the advantages of going back to school after experiencing motherhood. What tools have you learned as a mother that have prepared you for the challenges you will face as a student? Defend & explain your answer. 

Women's Opportunity Awards Program

The Women’s Opportunity Awards program assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families. The Women’s Opportunity Awards program involves three levels of cash awards.

Each year, more than $1.5 million in education grants are awarded to more than 1,000 women. Applications for 2015 academic year will be available on July 1, 2015 from November 15, 2015.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship

Women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering are eligible.

Applicants must be registered in a full-time Ph.D./doctoral program when funds are received in September and will not graduate before April 2016. Please note that post-doctoral research programs are not eligible for the Fellowship. 

Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting 

The Educational Foundation for women in Accounting awards scholarships to women who are pursuing Accounting degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. 

International Federation of University Women

Sponsors fellowships and grants for female graduate students who wish to study abroad as they complete their doctoral research.

Applicants must be student members of the IFUW to be considered for any award.Award amounts vary depending on course of study, and travel costs.

Infoparrot Scholarship of Academic Excellence

The scholarship is for $1250 and can be spent on anything related to school studies such as books, laptops, equipment or tuition fees. 

The due date of the scholarship is once per year and we will find 3 winners. The last day of submission is 11:59PM EST, December 31, 2015. You can find more information and apply here.
